The study reviewed 2,078 publications and mapped global research productivity, impact, and collaboration networks.
According to the results, Dr. Aragón-Sánchez ranks first globally with 53 publications, ahead of other leading international experts such as Lavery (50) and Lipsky (48). This ranking reflects a robust and clinically influential scientific trajectory.
The article also highlights Hospital La Paloma (Gran Canaria, Spain) as the second most productive institution in the world in research on diabetic foot osteomyelitis, surpassed only by the University of Washington. This achievement underscores the international impact of the work conducted at the hospital’s Diabetic Foot Unit.
Over the past two decades, the scientific contributions of Dr. Aragón-Sánchez and his team have helped reshape key concepts such as conservative surgery, infection management strategies, and the modern understanding of diabetic foot osteomyelitis.
